　Berry/floral nose with subtle hints of menthol, blueberry, raspberry and flowers in addition to some forest floor and a delicate touch of lead pencil shavings. The wine exhibits more structure and density than it did from barrel, and it was already remarkable then. The foresty/floral notes seem to linger and linger in this surprisingly full bodied, powerful Cheval Blanc, yet it possesses a very healthy pH that should ensure enormous longevity. Dense purple in color, and a bigger, richer wine than usual, this is one Cheval Blanc.

　The 2011 Cheval Blanc is one of the more plump, opulent and sexy Cheval Blancs made over recent vintages, and its forwardness, lusciousness and complexity seemingly suggest this wine is on a fast evolutionary track. The wine exhibits a dense ruby/purple/plum color, a medium to full-bodied opulence, a sumptuous mid-palate (atypical for the vintage), and a lush, heady finish. It is a super, complex, evolved . Bravo!

Not a hint of vanillin, toast or espresso notes in the aromatic bouquet, which is filled with scents of black currants, sweet cherries, lavender, forest floor and a hint of underbrush. Concentrated with a surprisingly lofty alcohol level of 13.9% as well as a tannin level that equals their 2010 (a wine bestowed a three-digit score), this full-bodied, opulent 2012 has a pH of 3.8, which accounts for its suppleness, velvety texture and heady richness.

Administrator Pierre Lurton compares it, in a positive manner, to the style of the 2001, but I do not think it has quite the richness of that vintage.

　Quintessential Cheval Blanc on the nose: predominantly red fruit here rather than black, touches of incense and dried roses, a dab of liquorice underneath. The Cabernet Franc is the engine behind the aromatics. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin. This is not a silky smooth Cheval Blanc – here there is an graininess to the tannin that exert a gentle grip in the mouth. It is a complex and cerebral wine with cracked black pepper on the almost ferrous finish. Like the second wine, it is linear and fresh, in some ways reminiscent of the string of superb wines produced in the 1980s. This is a formidable Cheval Blanc whose evolution will be fascinating to witness.

　瓶詰めされた直後の早飲みが可能であり、メジャー・シャトーでは、シャトー･オーブリオンも早飲みが可能とか。早熟だが熟成も可能。　カベルネ・フランの割合が特別に高い。

　シュヴァル・ブランは間違いなく、ボルドーで最も深遠なワインの1つである。ここ５０年ほどの年月のほとんどの間、サン・テミリオンの格付けの単独トップの地位を占め、このアペラシオン最高のワインを生み出してきた。ただ、オーゾンヌの復興が始まり、さらにサン・テミリオンのガレージ・ワインのつくり手による品質の革命が起こってからは、世の注目を分け合わなければならなくなった。それでもシュヴァル・ブランは、非常に突出したワインである。ポムロールと境を接するサン＝テミリオンの砂利地（グラーブ）の一画に位置し、その畑は、レヴァンジルやラ・コンセイヤントとは溝1つ分の距離でしかない。そのため長年、ここのワインはサン・テミリオンよりもポムロールに近いと批判されてきた。

　シュヴァル・ブランのワインのスタイルが、その絶大なる人気に貢献しているのは疑いの余地がない。暗いルビー色で、優良なヴィンテージならば、豪勢なまでの芳醇さと果実味のあるワインで、フルボディで、官能的で、みずみずしく、若いうちから誤解を招くほどに飲みやすい。そのブーケはとりわけ特徴的である。最高のシュヴァル・ブランは、シャトー・マルゴーなどのメドックの一級シャトーのワインよりも香りが華やかだ。ミネラル、メンソール、エキゾチックなスパイス、タバコ、そして強烈で超熟した黒系果実の香りは、味わう者を圧倒する。テイスティングした人の多くが、この巧妙な早熟さの魅力に惑わされて、このワインは長期熟成しないと誤った推測をしてしまう。大柄で豊かなヴィンテージにおいては、シュヴァル・ブランの熟成ぶりはとりわけすばらしいのだが、真に堂々たる風格が現れ始めるずっと前に、大半が飲み尽くされてしまうのではないか、という懸念がある。

　一般的な評価

　ベルナール・アルノーとアルベール・フレールは買収して以来、シュヴァル・ブラン独特のテロワールを最大限に引き出そうと、努力を惜しまなかった。その結果、シュヴァル・ブランは今まで以上に、ボルドーで最もエキゾチックで個性的なワインとなった。壮厳な落ち着きを感じさせるワインで、派手なところ、極端なところは微塵もない。それどころか、このワインを構成している要素（果実味、ふくよかさ、絹のような舌触り、ビロードのようなタンニン、とどまるところを知らないフィニッシュ、まばゆいばかりのアロマ）のすべてが、非の打ちどころのないつりあいを示している。若いうちから飲むこともできるが、カベルネ・フランのブレンド比率が非常に高いため、樽よりも瓶で寝かせたほうがおいしくなるようである。
　
　　　　

歴　史

　１８３２年、伯爵夫人カルル・トラジが所有していたシャトー・フィジャック の一部であり、建物を含む１６haの小作地をデュッカス家が取得します。デュッカスは、すぐに小さなシャトー建て、さらに１５haの畑を買い増します。この合計３１haの畑が、今日のシャトー・シュヴァル・ブランの基礎となっています。

　１８５４年、デュッカス家のアンリエット・デュッカスがジャン・フルコー・ローサックと結婚し、５haの葡萄畑(現３７haで１ha計算が合わないが。)が加わります。

　１８６８年には、約７０トノー(84,000本相当)のワインが生産されていたとされています。また、恐らくブドウ畑の排水システムを最も早くに設置したシャトーの一つで、この頃にカベルネ・フランが植えられたようです。

　１８９３年、所有者ジャン・フルコー・ローサックが他界し。彼の８人の子供が分割相続しますが、子供の一人アルベールが他の７人の相続分を買い取り、単独オーナーとなります。

１９２７年には、シュヴァル・ブランを会社組織としました。

１９９０年には、ジャン・フルコー・ローサックの孫娘であるブリジット・ハメルとマルティン・アルフィーユ、そしてフルコー・ローサック家のクロード・ドゥ・ラ・バールの３人が経営を引き継ぎます。

　彼女達３人は１９９１年から、シャトーの経営をピエール・リュルトンに任せることとしました。

　しかし、１９９８年、シュヴァル・ブランはついにベルギー人の実業家であり、ワインのコレクターとしても知られたアルベール・フレールと、「LVMH（ルイ・ヴィトン・モエ・エ・ヘネシー）」の社長であるベルナール・アルノーの手に渡ってしまいます。

　全生産量の４０％によって造られたプティ・シュヴァルは、メルローとカベルネ・フランが同量のブレンド比率である。シュヴァル・ブラン程の量感や深みはないが、格別な作品である。甘い、凝縮感のある、フラシ天のような滑らかな風味があり、素晴らしい豪勢さ、素敵な濃厚さを持ち合わせている。この美酒は出荷時には飲めるようになっている筈であるが、１２年から１５年は持ちこたえるだろう。信じられないかもしれないが、２０００年のプティ・シュヴァルは、過去２０年のシュヴァル・ブランのいくつかのヴィンテージよりも良好なのだ。　予想される飲み頃　２０１２年まで　ダウン　👇追加

　A sleeper of the vintage, the 2003 Le Petit Cheval includes the highest percentage of Cabernet Franc used in this cuvee to date. Composed of 77% Cabernet Franc and 23% Merlot, it displays an incredibly complex nose of sous-bois, freshly chopped porcini mushrooms, blueberries, raspberries and coffee. The beautiful aromatics are somewhat of a let-down once the wine hits the palate, but there is enough fruit, texture and interest to hold the taster’s interest. This lovely second wine may deserve an outstanding rating.

This is a seductive second wine that cascades over the palate with no hard edges.

　Lovely deep ruby-red colour. The nose is dominated by a burst of red fruits. The initial impact in the mouth is richand evolves to reveal great balance with lots of freshness and minerals. This is a long and nicely structured wine.The 2008 Le Petit Cheval (65% Cabernet Franc and the rest Merlot) is a light, but not a wimpy wine. It is more cedary and evolved, with spice box, tobacco leaf, licorice, and red and black fruits in a medium bodied, classic style.

　The best second wine I have ever tasted from Cheval Blanc is the 2010 Le Petit Cheval. This wine is essentially three fourths Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc. Rivaling the brilliant 2009, thirty percent of the production from this monstrously sized estate made it into this wine, which offers up plenty of white chocolate, cassis and mulberry as well as a hint of roasted herbs. With fleshy, round flavors, full bodied texture and an amazing finish, this is no second wine, and considerably better than some of the Cheval Blancs of the 1960s and 1970s!

　The Le Petit Cheval 2014 is a blend of 52% Merlot and 48% Cabernet Franc, representing 25% of the production. Matured in 50% new oak and 50% one-year old wood, it has a voluminous bouquet with black olive-tinged, raspberry and wild strawberry fruit, hints of vanilla developing with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. There is a linearity here, a strictness and poise. It does not have a fantail of concentrated fruit on the finish, but it does linger in the mouth and delivers an unexpected tang of Shezhuan pepper on the after taste. As my score implies, this deuxième vin is equal to many a Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classe
